As part of our continuous efforts to optimize performance and drive success The Health Physicist Trainee may be eligible for an annual promotion. The incumbent may advance to a higher grade within the classification series, based on satisfactory work performance. 

Progressive grade levels include:

Health Physicist I – Grade 15 $63,154 -$99,603)

The Health Physicist Trainee will receive training to support required inspections, investigations, and other regulatory activities. Duties will include processing registrations, preventive maintenance, and certifications to protect the public and occupational personnel from unnecessary exposure to radiation from x-ray-producing machines. The incumbent will also participate in monthly staff meetings and respond to radiation emergencies as needed.

This position may involve the following working conditions:

• Exposure to uncomfortable or unpleasant surroundings.
• Exposure to hazardous conditions which may result in injury.
• Physical demands such as lifting 20 pounds or more, climbing ladders etc.
• Protective equipment—such as safety glasses, gloves, mask during site visits when required.

The incumbent may be required to drive a State vehicle. If you hold an out-of-state driver’s license, you must provide a certified copy of your driving record from the issuing state’s  Motor Vehicle Administration at the time of hire. All individuals must maintain a driver's license with no more than 5 points on their driving record to operate a State vehicle.
