Main Purpose of Job
Provides administrative staff support to the Program Manager and Elevator Chief inspector in the administration of the Safety Inspection Program by managing the coordination of inspections and investigations pertaining to elevator units and related equipment operating at various sites throughout the State, ensuring that these devices are being operated, maintained and repaired in accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland, COMAR regulations, referenced codes, standards and manufacturer's criteria through a comprehensive review and analysis of inspection reports submitted.
POSITION DUTIES
Obtains, analyzes, and interprets information submitted from Authorized Third Party Inspectors with 95% of efficiency and accuracy within 3 working days of receiving the information into our database from the 3rdparty.reports@maryland.gov email account, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards and resolving any problems that may be evident.
Daily or within 24 hrs respond 100% inquiries received by email or phone messages from internal or external customers with adequate information with 95% accuracy. 3rdparty.reports@maryland.gov: Process submitted reports with 100% efficiency and accuracy. elevator.safety@maryland.gov: Process Change of Ownership, Building Name, or Mailing Address Form with a 100% accuracy, print requested certificates, forward emails to the correct recipients, contact customers if not inquire is not clear. safe.4u@maryland.gov: Distribute emails to a correct recipient and answer questions as required. elevator.3rdpartynotification@maryland.gov: Distribute received email notifications under then correct inspector name file.
Develop statistical reports used by the Chief Inspector and Authorized Third Party Inspector to identify inconsistencies in inspection activity, providing follow-ups to ensure that inconsistencies are addressed appropriately with a 95% of efficiency and accuracy.
When assigned performs other general administrative duties that support the Safety Inspection Program. Receive and distribute mail, check payment processing, and perform customer service; responding to inquiries, mailing inspection notices and certificates with 95% of efficiency and accuracy.
Consults with the Chief Inspector and industry stakeholders identifying objects in violation of the law and ensuring that appropriate action is taken. Identifies staffing patterns and needs throughout the State and assigns inspector work assignments accordingly with a 95% of efficiency and accuracy.
Provides administrative staff support to the Program Manager and Chief Inspector in the administration of the Safety Inspection Program by assisting in developing and implementing 100% efficient new and revised policy, procedures and processes consistent with Departmental goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Workstation (Google Docs, Google Sheets) or similar software used to prepare reports, track data, or maintain records.
