POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller of Maryland’s Returns Processing Section is seeking to fill 2 Office clerk positions in the Revenue Administration Division. This position is located in downtown Annapolis. We are looking for energetic individuals who are able to perform clerical duties, full time. Some of the duties of these positions include scanning documents, photocopying, posting data, opening and sorting mail as well as hand delivering mail to different departments within the Comptroller’s Office. Other duties may include are entering, retrieving and update information using a computer. This is a entry level position and a great opportunity to learn some new skills and be part of the fast paced environment. Full benefits are offered. 

Please Note:

  • Work may involve the lifting, carrying, transporting of tubs, trays, boxes, mail, packages, returns, etc., weighing up to 50 lbs. and the transporting, lifting, carrying of multiple tubs, trays, boxes, mail, documents etc. that may exceed 50 lbs using a cart to move them. May have to and be able to stand for extended periods. Employee must be able and willing to lift, carry, transport tubs, trays, boxes, mail packages, returns, etc weighing up to 50 lbs and to transport, lift, carry multiple tubs that may exceed 50 lbs.
  • May is requested to work evenings and/or Saturdays during the Tax Season. For this statement, Tax Season shall be defined as the period beginning January 15th and closing May 15th.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year experience performing clerical duties in an office environment. 

Notes:  

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Clerical experience, computer experience, mail handling.
