Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Prepares payroll for merit and contractual employees. Reviews and analyzes reports for accuracy and completion.
- Reviews requests for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Bank, and Employee to Employee Leave; maintains electronic and paper leave records; creates and analyzes reports for accuracy, compliance, and participation.
- Assists with generalist HR functions including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, and on boarding new employees.
- Answers health benefits and retirement questions for employees and facilitates related processes.
- Prepares and maintains personnel forms, reports, and files according to procedures, guidelines and instruction.
- Receives and answers queries and complaints from employees, personnel officers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Receives, interprets and distributes personnel administrative memoranda, bulletins and directives as needed.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of general clerical or administrative support experience, at least six months must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of personnel procedures, policies, rules, and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.
Note:
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in human resources assistance classification or human resources assistance specialty codes in the human resources management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Experience working in a State, Local, and/or Federal Government environment.
- One year of experience interpreting data to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- One year of experience working in an HRIS System (WorkDay).
- One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or Google Applications (Docs, Sheets).
