Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) seeks a Chief III to manage the collection and dissemination of financial and supplemental data for the Commission. The HSCRC, a state agency, regulates hospital services quality and cost, relying on comprehensive data from acute care, rehabilitation, and psychiatric hospitals to inform its oversight. The hospital data is crucial for validating Commission policies, ensuring hospital compliance, monitoring industry trends, and developing effective healthcare strategies. The position plays a key role in maintaining one of the nation's most robust hospital data sources.

The HSCRC Chief III, Financial Data Administration position works closely with the Associate Director of Healthcare Data Administration to manage the day-to-day operations of collecting and disseminating financial and supplemental data from all HSCRC-regulated hospitals. This includes assisting with the development and implementation of analytics to monitor the quality of data submitted from hospitals; managing and processing data requests from internal and external customers; drafting new and modify existing reporting requirements; and communicating with hospitals regarding financial data deadlines and policies.  In addition, the incumbent collaborates with other Healthcare Data Management and Integrity team members to maintain HSCRC data retention/destruction policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in data science, statistics, healthcare administration, finance, accounting or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience working with HSCRC financial and/or supplemental hospital data. Knowledge of HSCRC hospital rate setting or auditing policies preferred.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess excellent quantitative and written communication skills, as well as a collegial approach, and the ability to lead projects and supervise a diverse team of professionals.
