POSITION DUTIES
General Purpose: The Digital Assistant plays a supporting role in executing the Governor of
Maryland’s digital communication strategy. This position involves drafting and designing,
capturing and editing, and reporting back on the performance of daily social media posts. The
Digital Assistant will also support strategic digital projects developed by the Digital Director and
team. The Digital Assistant supports the Digital Director in their collaboration across
departments and agencies, ensuring the digital trains remain on the tracks.
Responsibilities:
- Content Creation and Approvals:
- Assist in the production of social content across the governor’s various social media platforms
- Route all social media content through the necessary approvals, including research, legal, and policy team stakeholders
- Creative Production and Capture:
- Edit all stakeholder videos and clip and caption media hits; partnering with the rest of the team to deliver these assets to stakeholders
- Assist the Creative Director and Video Producer with the production of compelling and shareable digital content, including graphics and videos
- Travel offsite to assist with any content capture at key events
- Website Management:
- Upload press releases, bill signings, proclamations, executive orders, and similar material to the Governor's official website, ensuring that information there is accurate and up-to-date
- Suggest routine copy edits and page updates to ensure the Office of the Governor’s website is up to date
- Performance Reporting:
- Compile weekly reports for review that assess the social program’s performance, potential, strengths, and weaknesses
- Regularly monitor social media trends and public sentiment, providing insights for proactive communication strategies and content creation
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least two years of experience in a video or digital role, preferably in a government or political setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, as needed
