Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor(MD Labor), Division of Workforce Development & Adult Learning - Correctional Education unit, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Teacher Conditional - Sheet Metal Instructor. This recruitment will be use to fill current and future vacancies. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

Main Purpose of Job
To create a classroom learning environment in which assigned inmate students make measurable progress toward identified educational goals as indicated by the successful completion of requirements for the Maryland Certificate of Achievement in Adult Literacy and Life Skills and/or Maryland High School Diploma.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide instruction in a variety of methods to include whole group, small group, and individualized instruction consistent with the approved curriculum.
- Plan and organize time, in advnace, to provide effective instruction.
- Use informal and form assesement tools to provide reliable and valid appraisal of student skills and acheivement.
- Maintain and submit program and instructional records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Create a physcial and interpersonal climate that is conducive to learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).
1. Experience working with incarcerated individuals preferred.
2. Field experience with metal, welding, and fabrication.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Teachers in State operated school programs are required to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Education Article, Section 6-101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.12.01.03B(2). Applicants recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials. Information on requirements for certification and procedures for application may be obtained from the Maryland State Board of Education, 200 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21201-2595.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
