We are seeking an accomplished and dedicated educational leader for the role of Field Director Correctional Education Programs (Field Director – Student Services). This position is a critical leadership role within the Juvenile Services Education Program (JSEP). Working closely with and reporting directly to the JSEP Superintendent, the Field Director provides strategic direction for instructional and special programs across JSEP schools, ensuring that all initiatives align with established accountability standards and directly impacts student learning needs. The role is central to advancing the academic mission and educational outcomes of JSEP by guiding curriculum development, supporting school staff, and fostering a climate and culture of educational excellence.
In this role, you will be:
● A member of the Superintendent's Executive Team, contributing and supporting the JSEP Board’s vision, goals, standards, and strategies for delivering effective educational services.
● Oversee and manage various programs and services that support student success and well-being within an educational institution. This includes areas like counseling, academic advising, career services, and student activities.
● Play a key role in developing and implementing policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
● Lead content coordinators in the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs.
● Support the collection and use of data to drive decision-making and instructional improvement.
● Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support program goals and continuous improvement efforts.
● Oversee the school improvement process, ensuring goals align with JSEP accountability measures and address targeted areas for growth.
● Collaborate with field directors, principals, school counselors, and other administrators to promote a safe, supportive, and equitable learning environment.
● Collaborate with JSEP leadership and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality educational opportunities for all students in juvenile facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, education administration or a related
field.
2. Holds or is eligible for a Maryland
Advanced Professional Teaching
certificate in Secondary
Education or Administration/Supervision.
3. Seven years of education experience in teaching and administration.
4. Excellent management, planning, organization, written communications, and human relation skills required.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification must possess and maintain Administrator I and Administrator II certification per Education Article, Section 6-101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.12.04.04.04, Supervisors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Principals. Candidates recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials.
