Unpaid Fall Intern - Forest Service Field Technician

LOCATION OF POSITION
Morgan Run Field Office Westminster, MD; Carroll County
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide hands on experience in field forestry for qualified candidates.
The internship runs 20 weeks between October 2025 and February 2026. The specific start/end dates,
hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be a current college student. A GPA of 2.5 or above is required for academic credit.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with inventory data collection in mature forest settings and afforestation/reforestation projects.
- Non-native invasive species identification and management.
- Proper planting techniques for bareroot and containerized stock.
- Familiarity with tree planting equipment and methodologies.
- Pursuing a degree in one of the following categories; Biology, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, or related field of study.
