Main Purpose of Job

This position will serve as the Program Director of the Behavioral Health Unit of the Worcester County Health Department. This unit is integrated with mental health and substance abuse programs as well as various case management and community services programs. With overall responsibility of over 120 employees and a budget of over $11 million dollars, this position will plan, direct and manage the programs within the unit. This involves coordination with other major divisions, maintaining compliance with COMAR, Maryland Department of Health guidelines and Joint Commission accreditation standards. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Health Officer to implement the local Community Health Improvement Plan as well as the State Health Improvement Plan. The selected applicant must be willing and able to travel to all sites of the Worcester County Health Department as well as Statewide for meetings as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience, including three years at a supervisory or managerial level.

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience and a Doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.

  • Program Management/Leadership Experience
  • Experience Identifying and Directing Quality Improvement Initiatives
