Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for management of multiple overdose and infectious disease prevention programs within the BHA Division of Prevention and Promotion with an estimated annual budget of $32 million, including, but not limited to, the ACCESS grant program, Overdose Response Program (ORP), Opioid-Associated Disease Prevention and Outreach Programs, and capacity building initiatives. The position oversees development and implementation of public health policies and programs, sets program goals and objectives, determines organizational structure and staffing needs of program administration units, and supervises program administrators. The position also serves as a subject matter expert on overdose and infectious disease prevention services and supports collaborative initiatives with other agencies and stakeholder organizations at the federal, state, and local levels.

This position is eligible for telework. This is subject to change as necessitated by operations and customer focused demands.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience, including three years at a supervisory or managerial level.

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience and a Doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates should possess the following:
  • Knowledge of best practices in reducing morbidity and mortality among people who use drugs
  • Experience developing policies and programs related to behavioral health, substance use, and/or overdose and infectious disease prevention
  • Experience managing public health grant programs
