Introduction

With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES
- Plans, organizes, directs and controls all aspects of the work assigned to the section.
- Reviews and assesses electronic and/or paper claims at all levels of adjudication for quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness in accordance with Social Security Administration regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implements Division policy, program directives and administrative instructions and maintains systems to monitor and ensure compliance.
- Monitors and assesses staff performance and provides assistance and direction in meeting performance standards.
- Performs supervisory functions related to attendance control and performance evaluations.
- Responds to inquiries regarding the eligibility of benefits for claimants.
- Implement and maintain working relationships with Federal, State and local organizations and agencies.
