Introduction
THIS RECRUITMENT IS

COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND
This is a Management
Service position. The incumbent will serve at the pleasure of the Appointing
Authority.

POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to manage the resources of the Business Tax Audit Section to achieve and maintain voluntary compliance via the audit of taxpayers for the following taxing areas: Alcohol & Tobacco Tax; Corporate Income Tax; Motor Fuel Tax. Motor Carrier Tax through the International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA); Withholding Tax. Bay Restoration Fee; Unclaimed Property; Digital Advertising Gross Revenue (DAGR). Cannabis; and Universal Service Fee (USF).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's
degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses,
including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Seven years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, the practice of tax law, or
general management.
Five years of this experience must have involved supervising professional
accountants or auditors; giving legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax
attorney; or must have been in a responsible administrative or management capacity sufficient to
demonstrate capabilities of performing responsible staff work.
NOTES:
- Applicants may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Possession of a Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for two years of the required general experience.
- Applicants may substitute graduate education in an academic field related to the required experience from an accredited college or university at the rate of one year of education for one year of the required general experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Accounting.
