POSITION DUTIES

The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking indviduals to work at the SPS Help Desk to assist with system user support calls. Successful candidates will function in a support role in the Division, and shal be able to work independently.

Specifically, duties involve resetting system passwords, walking employees through system processes, following up to make sure issues have been resolved, and providing feedback about the system.

This is a temporary position that will start in September 2025 and end in December 2025. Core work hours are from 8:00am to 4:30pm for an 8 hour day schedule during these times. This is remote work. We provide work equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  1. Excellent verbal and communication skills 
  2. Previous help desk support experience 
  3. Current software experience with Google 
  4. Proficient at intermediate level in MS Office including Word, Excel 
  5. Extensive experience researching materials using the internet, explaining process steps to others and interest in learning new software applications 
  6. Team player 
  7. Customer-focused, sense of urgency to resolve issues 
  8. Well organized, self starter who eagerly approaches new challenges 
  9. Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and maturity

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
