Introduction
This Position Specific recruitment for Office Supervisor
will be used to fill the vacancy in the Baltimore City County Assessments
Office- Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Supervises activities of clerical staff, by establishing
goals, coordinating work priorities and evaluating subordinate employees by
regularly monitoring work flow and work to ensure the timely and accurate
completion of office assignments. Develops, recommends, and implements
modifications of clerical operations and procedures to improve efficiency.
Trains and instructs subordinate staff on job duties and
office policies to ensure compliance with departmental procedures and state
regulation and policies by distributing written materials, conducting staff
meetings and providing on the job training.
Responds to inquiries from attorneys, government officials,
other agencies, general public and resolves complex problems related to the
assessment process.
Compiles statistics for the Audit and Aims reports.
Prepares and reviews increase and decrease base assessment and homestead credit
change reports to be sent to the Office of Finance by the end of each month.
Identifies and prepares accounts involving Agricultural
Transfer Tax and Interprets complex recorded documents for accounts that need
special processing.
Approves leave, time reports and prepares pep evaluations.
Performs other job duties as may be required.
This position is a mission essential/ mission critical
classification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of experience performing clerical duties.
Notes:
1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
3.Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge
and experience administering employee evaluations.
- Knowledge
and experience administering counseling and discipline actions.
- Experience
supervising a minimum of four employees in a professional
setting.
- Demonstrated
experience in administering customer services policies and
procedures.
- Demonstrated
experience training and leading employees on Standard Operating
procedures.
