Main Purpose of Job
Provide administrative support and serve as a member of the team that assists the supervisor for the secondary transition services at a progressive school for deaf and hard of hearing students and assists in the management of the school's operations.
POSITION DUTIES
Manage
the office of the Secondary Transition Department's daily operations, including
answering phone calls and receiving students into the building where the
program is located. In addition to supporting the supervisor of Secondary
Transition Services in serving students, families, teachers, staff, and
stakeholders. This position will organize and schedule appointments for the
supervisor. Will assist in planning the Work to Learn Showcase and
Employer Appreciation Reception. This position will include checking for
accuracy and completeness of purchase orders and supporting staff in completing
and submitting forms for off campus field trips. This position also
includes maintaining communication with other departments across campus,
monthly newsletters, preparing and proofreading the supervisor of Secondary
Transition Services' communications, and coordinating the supervisor of
Secondary Transition’s schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma.
Strong English writing skills and proficient in
using Google Suite apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms).
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Fluent
or at least literate in American Sign Language (understands a conversation and
can respond).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
New hires are subject to a criminal background
investigation at their own expense. (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1,
Sections 5-560-568)

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
