POSITION DUTIES
The Driving Training Unit Administrator will develop, deliver and/or facilitate professional emergency vehicle operations training for law enforcement and correctional personnel. The Administrator has responsibility of the daily operations and management of the Driver Training Unit.
- Direct the operations of the Public Safety Education and Training Center Driver Training Facility, including the safe and efficient operation of all facility components, ensuring that training is in compliance with the Police and Correctional Training Commissions regulations, and ensure that all Maryland law enforcement and correctional officers have the availability of conducting/receiving training at the facility.
- Provide direct supervision of subordinate staff, provide training, assign work and evaluate performance. Supervise and manage contractual agreements; for the purpose of client agencies using the facility and arranging for contractual instructor services.
- Direct on-going research to ensure state-of-the-art driver training programs, including strategies and tactics presented within vehicle operations training events.
- Manage the recordkeeping of statistical data related to completed training.
- Manage and implement processes necessary to ensure EVO instructor certification and training program applications are processed efficiently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet all
minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's
degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Five years’ experience in administrative or professional work. Two years of this experience must have involved supervision of other employees and oversight of general operations of a unit.
Notes:
1.
Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or
professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2.
Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited
college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of
the required experience.
3.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a
commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of
independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex
administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational
programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year
basis for the required education and experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be

1. Minimum of three years of experience instructing on a police emergency vehicle training program.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on
your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Possess a current Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor Certification from MPCTC per COMAR 12.04.06 or be able to achieve such a certification within six months of beginning employment.
2. Possess a current Academic Instructor’s Certification
from MPCTC per COMAR 12.04.06 or be able to achieve such a certification within
six months of beginning employment.
3. Completion of a First Line Supervisor Course certified by
MPCTC per COMAR 12.04.01.13 or 12.10.01.18 or be able to achieve successful
completion within six months of beginning employment.
