Main Purpose of Job
The Fiscal Accounts Technician Supervisor directs and
supervises the Accounts Payable (A/P) Unit within the Office of Fiscal
Services. The incumbent in this position is responsible for ensuring invoices
are paid in a timely manner and properly allocated as indicated by the
appropriate Administration within MDE. Such allocations are vital because these
allocations are the basis the Administrations use to determine appropriate
billing, grant accountability and budgetary planning. On average, the A/P unit
processes 600 invoices totaling $22.6M per month.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.
Notes:
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on

- FMIS experience as it relates to the Accounts Payable process.
- Experience using the Docuware database system as it relates to the Accounts Payable process.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word creating spreadsheets, presenting data and generating reports.
- Experience supervising employees and conducting employee performance reviews.

PERSONAL LEAVE - New State employees are awarded six (6) personal leave days
