The Comptroller’s Revenue Administration Division is looking for a Fiscal Accounts Technician I to join our Revenue accounting team. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detailed oriented, and intellectually curious. Most importantly, they will be a collaborator and partner who will help to support our division. Some of the job duties for this position will include reconcile agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems. Develop automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments. Research and process adjustments from the State Treasurer’s Office (STO) to update activities posted to the State general ledger (R*STARS). Act as a liaison to the Banking Services Division and the State Depository bank, among other duties. If you think you are a fit for this position, we encourage you to apply! MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.

NOTES:

  1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
  2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University.
  • Experience developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers, and accounting reports.
  • Experience in gathering and/or preparing information in response to audit requests.
  • Minimum of one (1) year working with the State of Maryland general ledger system (R*STARS).
