Introduction

The Appointments Office is charged with making state government inclusive and representative of the people it serves—from cabinet secretaries to judgeships and the state's 600 boards and commissions. It manages the recruitment for, and administrative and technical aspects of the appointments process, and engages with communities across the state to make sure that, for every appointment, we have the most talented and representative candidate pool possible. The Placement Data Analyst helps identify, build and implement data-driven and technology solutions to maximize the efficiency and impact of the appointments work.

POSITION DUTIES

General Purpose: The Placement Data Analyst helps identify, build and implement data-driven and technology solutions to maximize the efficiency and impact of the appointments work.

Responsibilities:
  • Support and maximize functionality of the application portal 
  • Manage the collection and analysis of appointments data to inform decision-making around Appointments Office strategy and narrative 
  • Retrieve, process and analyze large data sets, and design systems and databases to help drive decision-making 
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets 
  • Interpret appointments data, analyze results 
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality 
  • Deeply understand the appointments work and implement systems and data and technology solutions to streamline, support and maximize impact of the work 
  • Identify and define process improvement opportunities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics 
  • Technical expertise in data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques 
  • Strong knowledge of/experience with reporting packages, databases and programming 
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing data sets 
  • Proficiency in key features of the Google Workspace platform including Drive, Gmail, Google Meet, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to explain large amounts of information in a simple, organized manner 
  • Strong math skills and business acumen 
  • Curious and resourceful
