Main Purpose of Job

The State Autism Administrative Coordinator provides staff support to the State Autism Coordinator for the purpose of identifying and evaluating existing services for people with autism and their families throughout the State of Maryland, and in consultation with the Advisory Stakeholder Group on Autism–Related Needs, develops a strategic plan to address the needs of this community.

POSITION DUTIES

Assist the State Autism Coordinator in carrying out the following functions:

• Provide ongoing support to the Advisory Stakeholder Group on Autism related needs; 
• Produce a strategic plan for addressing autism related needs in the State; 
• Communicate and monitor performance measures for the strategic plan; 
• Report out on the implementation of the strategic plan; 
• Promote public education and awareness of autism issues and concerns; • Prepare and submit an annual report to the Governor and the General Assembly, and other pertinent reports, briefings, white papers, and recommendations as needed to leadership, stakeholders, and others.

Provide Support to Department Leadership through the following:
• Coordinate and manage the appointments calendar for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary; 
• Organize scheduled meetings; 
• Arrange meeting accommodations; 
• Manage travel arrangements for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary; 
• Complete expense reports; and 
• Maintain files and records including confidential information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience performing clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. 

Notes:   

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year- for-year basis for the required education and experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous lived or work experience on Autism related needs;
· Previous experience providing administrative support to an executive or advisory board; 
· Experience assisting in the grants management process; 
· Experience preparing reports and statistical data.
