Main Purpose of Job
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for an Evidence
Control Officer in its Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU). This position is
responsible for maintaining the chain of custody and control of all evidence
obtained during the course of the Unit’s investigations. Investigations involve
sensitive matters and probe allegations of patient abuse and neglect as well as
complex fraud schemes such as billing for false or inflated services,
kickbacks, illegal distribution of drugs, and other violations within the
Maryland Medicaid program.
POSITION DUTIES
Job responsibilities include,
but are not limited to: attending and assisting in the execution of search and
seizure warrants, cataloguing evidence and maintaining inventory lists,
assisting attorneys and investigators in the collection, evaluation and storage
of evidence, assisting with preparation of documents, charts and/or visual aids
for trials and hearings, assisting the IT specialist in maintaining statistics
for federal reports, monitoring abuse/neglect referrals, maintaining abuse case
database, and providing back up support for administrative support staff as
needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative experience or a degree from an accredited
university.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess experience using computer
database software, Access, Excel, and word processing programs.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position will be required to lift at least 50 pounds.
