LOCATION OF POSITION

This position is available with the Department of General Services’ Office of Real Estate (ORE), located at 300 W. Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. 

Main Purpose of Job

This position will provide executive-level leadership and oversight for the DGS Office of Real Estate. ORE directly provides real estate support services to State agencies, including managing a commercial lease portfolio comprising 6 million square feet of office space. This position oversees project completion and ensures that Department priorities and goals are met.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: 

• Provide senior leadership, oversight, and internal administration for all staff within ORE to ensure all projects in various real estate functional areas move forward and goals are met.
• Ensure that all units provide timely service to client agencies and ensure that COMAR and State Finance and Procurement requirements are adhered to in all procurement processes and real estate transactions. 
• Ensure that coordination and communication between internal ORE units and external DGS divisions is optimal for project success.
• Oversee the equitable assignment of space in DGS owned and managed facilities totaling approximately 5 million square feet of office space. Ensure MOU’s are in place for all tenants occupying State-owned facilities.
• Oversee high-profile capital acquisition projects and politically sensitive disposal projects, ensuring all State Finance & Procurement requirements are met.
• Oversee the compliance inspection program for approximately 350 leased facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: At least five (5) years of professional experience as a senior-level manager of commercial or government real estate operations, to include experience in lease management, construction management, and land acquisition and disposal, with at least two (2) years of experience developing strategic plans and standard operating procedures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting and working with executive level leadership team, agency management, staff, landlords, property owners, and brokers.
