Introduction

The Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) provides training and regulatory services to Maryland’s certified police and correctional professionals through the recommendation and implementation of standards.  The Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) staff supports the Police Training and Standards Commission and Correctional Training Commission plus manages and operates the Public Safety Education and Training Center (PSETC).

 

Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) is recruiting to fill its Deputy Director position. The selected candidate, along with the Public Safety Education and Training Center ( PSETC) Executive Director, will lead Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) to innovate and expand its training offerings to better prepare and serve Maryland’s police and correctional officers, and their Agencies.

Sykesville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position functions as the second in command of the Agency and is responsible for oversight of the Certification Unit and Compliance Section which processes 30K officer certification and training requirements, along with auditing 200 Agency hiring/training files for police and correctional officers. Additionally this position manages all Training Units at the Public Safety Education and Training Center (PSETC). This position provides administrative responsibilities for both the Police Training and Standards Commission (PTSC) and the Correctional Training Commission (CTC).

POSITION DUTIES

The Deputy Director position reports directly to the Public Safety Education and Training Center (PSETC) Executive Director. The position’s responsibilities include:

- Overseeing the Certification Unit

- Overseeing the Compliance Unit

- Overseeing the Public Safety Education and Training Center (PSETC) Training Units/Facilities

- Performing the duties of the Executive Director in his/her absence

 

This is a Management Service position that serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of experience working at the senior management or command staff level for a police or correctional organization. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following work experience or education is preferred:

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

- Work or collaboration with an institution of higher education

- Managing State personnel and fiscal processes

- Organizational Development

- Educating adult learners

- Introducing technology in classrooms and/or implementing programs that allow for virtual learning

- Managing contracts and projects
