LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Road Lanham, MD 20706.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

This position will manage the internal audit function for the Department conducting compliance, economy and efficiency, and program results audits and reviews. Responsibilities will include assessing the operations of the Department and identifying the units and activities that need to be audited; preparing an annual audit plan; supporting divisions with new program development to reduce risk; directing and performing internal audits, special reviews and investigations; documenting and communicating audit findings and recommended corrective actions; conducting post audits to determine if corrective actions have been taken; reviewing legislative audit reports, developing corrective action responses in conjunction with management, and following up to see that the corrective action has been taken; coordinating external audits and reviews, including federal monitoring visits; and recruiting and training staff auditors, as resources become available

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: Two years of programmatic risk management or internal audits experience

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute additional experience as described above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
