Introduction

This is an 11 month, school year position.  This position does not work when school is closed during winter break, spring break, and during the summer months.

The salary range reflects the 11 month work schedule.  This is a part-time position, therefore the salary range will be prorated to $15,812.00 - $22,412.00.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job

This is a part-time supervisory level position in the food service operations of the Frederick Campus of the Maryland School for the Deaf.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for the production and service of nutritious meals in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable health and sanitation regulations and standards; supervises food service staff; oversees store room operations, supervises proper closing procedures, and secures department after dinner hours; monitors production records and daily student rosters; participates in scheduled meetings and in-service trainings; and performs other related duties as required by the food service administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in food production or service for a large- scale food service operation on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional education in the area of food service management, nutritional care, institutional administration or a related area on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Culinary classifications or Food Service specialty codes in the Food Preparation and Serving field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Willing to learn American Sign Language.

Willing to become Serve Safe Certified.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense.  (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568)

Candidates will need to provide three letters of recommendation.

Candidates must be willing to become Serve Safe Certified.
