POSITION DUTIES

To assess all incoming inmates in a designated institution for substance use concerns and provide counseling, intervention, intense treatment and rehabilitation services to those inmates with substance abuse disorder(s) which may also include inmates that are dually diagnosed.

Provide substance use disorder treatment on an individual basis twice monthly and two group sessions a week for two groups with approximately 15 members in each group. Documentation of all group and individual notes to include treatment plans and discharge summaries in inmate files. 

Maintain contact and communication with Case Management, institutional staff, and headquarters staff about substance use disorder treatment program start dates, end dates, list of next cycle participates and all other aspects of program management.  

Provide Aftercare services once per week in a group setting. Complete individual sessions as needed. 

Screening inmates or coordinating with the contractor to make sure screenings are completed as needed on inmates entering the institution utilizing the TCU Drug Screen 5. Score the instrument and complete the Screening and Assessment Results form documenting the results and provide the form to case management. Maintain original testing instrument in treatment files. Assess inmates or coordinate with contractor to have TAP completed on inmates needing substance use disorder treatment services. Score and ass results of the TAP to the Screening Assessment Result form and provide to case management. Develop inmate files to maintain original testing instruments. Complete TAP reviews of clients getting ready to start treatment services.    

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors or Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. on or before September 30, 2008.  

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselors or Certified Professional Counselors-Alcohol and Drug. on or before September 30, 2008.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor or as a Certified Professional Counselor Alcohol and Drug on or before September 30, 2008.     

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
