Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Six years of experience, two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer or Architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects and an additional four years of experience as an Engineer or Architect in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture and two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer or Architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for- year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Architecture or Engineering (Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Environmental Design, or Undergraduate Engineering degree);
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills and the ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and scope;
- Experience with design and construction of institutional and healthcare facilities;
- Working knowledge of industry software including AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting programs;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and Google Suite;
- Contract administration and cost estimating experience;
- Working knowledge of current building codes including: IBC, NFPA, FGI Guidelines for Design of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities, Code of Maryland Regulations, and RS Means cost estimating resources.
