Main Purpose of Job

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure on the AWS platform. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud-based systems and applications.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Develop and lead the design and architecture of AWS-based infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure infrastructure scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Build and maintain AWS resources, including EC2 instances, VPCs, RDS databases, and more.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Lead a team of infrastructure engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field of study to include coursework in database management systems.

Experience: The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Lead should have five (5) years experience designing, implementing, and managing a cloud infrastructure on the AWS platform. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud-based systems and applications.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • AWS Certification Preferred but not required.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in Windows active directory design and implementation across AWS cloud environments.
  • Three (3) years experience managing cloud implementations, upgrades, migrations and change requests on client cloud environments.
  • Three (3) years demonstrated experience in AWS storage encryption, data at rest and data in transit.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
