Main Purpose of Job

Senior Drupal Developer is to design, develop, and implement high-quality Drupal solutions that meet the business requirements of the Agency. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that Drupal environments are optimized for performance and that the solutions they develop are scalable, maintainable, and secure. Maintain up-to-date documentation on Drupal disaster recovery and high availability procedures, including recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO), and communicating these to stakeholders and other IT team members. The incumbent should also develop and maintain Drupal-based websites and applications. The incumbent is responsible for creating, customizing, and configuring Drupal-based websites to meet the specific needs of the agency. Improve the overall productivity and efficiency of an organization by providing customized Drupal solutions that meet the unique needs of the business in support of the Agency’s mission.

POSITION DUTIES

§  Developing and maintaining high-quality, secure, and user-friendly Drupal-based websites by customizing and configuring Drupal modules, themes, and plugins.

§  Write code in PHP that adds new features, modifies existing functionality, integrates with external systems, and enhances the capabilities of Drupal websites.

§  Implementing responsive and user-friendly themes for Drupal websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 

§  Managing and optimizing the Drupal database (MySQL/MariaDB/Percona Server), including data modeling, performance tuning, and security. 

§  Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to Drupal-based websites, such as fixing bugs, addressing security vulnerabilities, and optimizing website performance.

§  Utilizing version control systems like Git to manage code repositories and collaborating with other team members.

§  Analyzing and optimizing the performance of Drupal websites, including caching, database queries, and code optimizations. 

§  Implementing security best practices, monitoring, and addressing security vulnerabilities, and performing routine maintenance tasks such as updates and backups. 

§  Creating technical documentation, including code comments, installation guides, and user manuals, to facilitate future development and maintenance.

§  Conduct thorough testing to ensure the functionality, usability, and compatibility of Drupal websites across different browsers and devices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Seven years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology for four years of the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software for four years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output to process data on computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.

4. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology and three years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software for the required experience.

5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate MUST have the following:

 

A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Drupal development and in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other relevant web technologies and backend technologies like MySQL/MariaDB and PostgreSQL. This experience should include working on multiple Drupal projects and demonstrating a strong understanding of Drupal's architecture, best practices, and Drupal development, including Drupal 8, Drupal 9, and/or Drupal 10. The experience should include creating custom modules, theming, site building, and configuring complex Drupal environments.
