Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Maintain license as a paramedic (NREMT & Maryland) and MICRB (or equivalent)
- Serve on education program advisory boards as MIEMSS representative
- Serve on committees that are assigned by the Director of OCS
- Approve, import, and evaluate submitted continuing education into LMS
- Coordinate the EMS education program approval process for ALS and BLS programs throughout the state
- Collaborate with other members of the Office of Clinician Services to manage projects related to EMS clinician education and certification/licensure
- Collaborate with other members of the Office of Clinician Services to manage projects related to EMS clinician education and certification/licensure
- Develop classroom, distance, and blended learning curriculum
- Manage the MIEMSS Online Training Center
- Approve, import, and develop PDI instructors
- Manage assigned KACE Tickets
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Eight years of experience, four years of experience developing, implementing and conducting training and testing for the certification of providers of emergency medical services and an additional four years of experience as a Certified Emergency Medical Services Provider, Certified Emergency Medical Services Instructor or Emergency Medical Services Test Evaluator.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience developing, implementing and conducting training and testing for the certification of providers of emergency medical services for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Emergency Management classifications or Emergency Management specialty codes in the Emergency Management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of MD EMS Education and protocols
- Knowledge of the Image Trend software
- Knowledge of the COAEMSP process and standards
- Knowledge of NREMT education standards and licensure process
- Knowledge of curriculum design
- Knowledge of course creation and LMS utilization
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification are required to possess current certifications as an Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services Provider and Emergency Medical Services Instructor.
2. Employees in this classification are required to maintain current certification as an Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services Provider and Emergency Medical Services Instructor.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator license valid in the State of Maryland.
