POSITION DUTIES

The purpose of the job is to coordinate and perform dialysis and transplant centers' surveys, to evaluate these surveys for compliance with medical and physical standards for State certification purposes, and to coordinate the certification process with the Office of Health Care Quality for State Licensure purposes. Additionally, the position is responsible to intake all patient complaints, responsible for their resolution and for the monitoring of compliance with corrective action plans imposed on the dialysis and transplant centers to maintain their State certification. The position will supervise an Administrative Specialist II, as applicable, and is responsible for administrative duties relating to collection of the certification fees, the Commission budget and its disbursements, updating regulations and meeting all the mandated responsibilities of the Commission.

This position will require travel between the dialysis centers throughout the State, for surveying the facilities and for patient complaint resolution, in order to meet compliance with the State of Maryland Commission regulations, and the endorsed Federal regulations. 

This position is eligible for hybrid telework (40%) 2 days a week, which is subject to approval from the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing specialty codes in the inspection of health care facilities and program field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
- Experience with chronic dialysis
- Knowledgeable of Federal and State of Maryland requirements in the end stage kidney disease (ESKD) field

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
