Main Purpose of Job

This position will develop, plan and implement an integrated program of nursing services within the Kent County Health Department. Such services will include Communicable Disease Clinics, along with Adult Evaluation and Referral Services (AERS); Maternal and Child Health Services (MCH); School Health Services (SHS); Medical Adult Day Care (MADC); and, Family Planning/Maternity.

In addition to being responsible for services in the medical setting, this position will supervise Registered Nurse Supervisors. This position will also indirectly supervise subordinate licensed and non-licensed nursing staff members.


The qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field from an accredited college or university, and four (4) years of experience as a Community Health Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative, or teaching capacity; or, one (1) year of experience as a Community Health Nurse and three (3) years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative, or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse.


Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license or license verification should accompany your application.


This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A resume must accompany your application.
