POSITION DUTIES
This position serves on the Interdisciplinary Team; is primary familial contact; assesses each person's needs and explores appropriate resources and interventions; and writes updated social summaries. This position functions as an advocate on behalf of the people who reside at Potomac Center/SETT and actively supports an interdisciplinary approach to how each person's unique needs, wants, and goals can be reached. This position also provides in-service training to other facility staff on a variety of topics including Professional Boundaries, and Abuse and Neglect. This position must at all times ensure duties and responsibilities are carried out according to ICF/MR regulations; Office of Health Care Quality; Potomac Center/SETT Policies; and all procedures, professional standards, and ethical considerations associated with their professional licensure.
Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # 2023.04.18.03) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess knowledge of clinical social casework principles and group techniques and knowledge of individual, family and group behavioral patterns.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates must be licensed as a Graduate Social Worker (on or by June 30, 2018), Master Social Worker(on or after July 1, 2018) or Certified Social Worker by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health Testing Unit.
2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
