Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to organize, implement, and provide Art Therapy and other activity therapy services to adult psychiatric inpatients.  The Art Therapist II function as a member of a treatment team and maintains patient records. This position will support the mission of the organization through active participation in clinical efforts to provide a treatment in a recovery-oriented environment. The foundation of a recovery-oriented environment is respect and a commitment to safety in the least restrictive manner possible.

Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # 2023.04.18.03) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist (LCPAT).

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapists (LCPAT).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Clinical Professional Art Therapist (LCPAT).

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

4. Employees in this classification assigned to facilities with a swimming pool may be required to obtain Red Cross instruction and certification in Life Saving and Water Safety prior to permanent appointment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in, and therefore, will be required to provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
