Main Purpose of Job
Under managerial supervision, this position functions as the Industry Liaison in Public
Services, assisting with the management of boat dealers and sport licensing agents, acting
as second-in-command for the Licensing & Registration Center Manager and serving as a
front line connection between the Department and the constituency it serves.
Public Services is responsible for (1) sport hunting and fishing license sales, (2) vessel
registration, titling and excise tax collection, (3) commercial tidal fish license renewals and
transfers, (4) the issuance of off-road vehicle permits, and (5) the licensing and monitoring
of boat dealers and sport license agents.
POSITION DUTIES
A Licensing and Registration Center Supervisor functions as the Supervisor at the regional office, assisting with the management of boat dealers and sport licensing agents, acting as second-in-command for the Licensing & Registration Center Manager and serving as a front-line connection between the Department and the constituency it serves. Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Licensing and Registration Technicians.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience involving titling and registering boats.
- Experience issuing hunting and fishing licenses and permits.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
