Introduction
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state’s casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran’s posts. Gaming in Maryland is a dynamic and growing business that operates around the clock, 365 days of the year.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to maximize sales and revenues for all Lottery
products by visiting approximately 115-125 assigned Lottery retailer locations in a
specific territory on a pre-determined cycle and performing duties that correspond with
being front line communicators with our retailer network. These duties include increasing
revenue generating activities, promotions and lottery ticket sales; and maintaining
compliance with lottery laws, regulations and policies with integrity and efficiency. This
position relates to the mission of the agency by ensuring the retailer network is
maintained at an optimum level; integrity is maintained at all times; and that sales at each
retailer location are maximized through utilization of POS, training, in-store
merchandising and promotions, and periodic events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute additional experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of business-to-business sales experience.
- Three years of route sales experience.
- Experience in merchandising.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
