POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Operations Manager of the Taxpayer Services Division with administrative, and procurement functions. Write, review and submit purchase orders, requisitions and invoices to Section Manager. Assist in creation and updates to operations manual, quick reference guide and COOP Plan. Ability to accept and respond to calls from vendors, taxpayers, and division employees.
PLEASE NOTE: Must be willing and able
to work Monday through Friday in a full-time capacity in the Taxpayer
Services Division's Annapolis Call Center. Required hours are 8:00 am to 5:00
pm. Leave may be limited during certain times of the year due to high
volume events, projects, or special assignments. Evening and weekend work
may be required especially during peak times of the year. Employees are
unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work
for private accounting services. This position is designated as emergency
essential personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
- Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
- Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Receiving supply orders.
- Preparing purchase orders.
- Writing, reviewing, and updating manuals.
- Experience with personal computers and software applications (MS Office).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard on a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
