LOCATION OF POSITION

Western Region – Green Ridge State Forest; Flintstone, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Forest Service/Western Region, is currently accepting applications for an Office Clerk Assistant position located at Green Ridge State Forest in Flintstone, Maryland. The incumbent will greet the public, open incoming mail, answer telephone calls, maintain routine statistical and numerical records requiring basic arithmetic computations, using a computer, and perform other office related duties.
The selected candidate will be required to work weekends and/or holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: None

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic arithmetic
  • Ability to learn to perform clerical tasks and basis office procedures
  • Ability to learn to operate office equipment
  • Ability to learn to update and maintain files, logs and other records
  • Ability to learn to screen and respond to telephone inquiries and questions from visitors
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, co-workers and others.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Persons in this position may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile or other motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess the appropriate operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
