Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to manage a multi-program prevention unit for the Division of Behavioral Health Services of the Washington County Health Department. This position directs and coordinates an array of county-wide human services and related activities designed to serve county residents and increase the health of county residents by mobilizing multiple groups and organizations to change the social environment (including policies, legislation, enforcement, norms, public understanding and community practices), provide appropriate direct services, solve problems at the community level, and address relevant community risk and protective factors on the basis of sound and current research. Preparation of grant proposals, close monitoring of prevention program budgets are integral components of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience: Five years of professional experience in health services, two years must have been in the Addiction option.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or      human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. Experience in the Addiction option must be as follows: professional work related to treatment and services for persons with alcohol or other substance abuse addiction.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services for the required education.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist  specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should possess the following:
     -Experience planning and implementing community health initiatives. 
     -Experience in word, excel, and google workspace.
     -Experience and comfort with public speaking. 
     -Experience with alcohol, tobacco and other drug programming.
     -Experience supervising staff.
