POSITION DUTIES

This position will serve as the lead accountable officer for the Inventory Unit, conducting statewide inspections of all sensitive and non-sensitive inventory. Duties also include overseeing the disposal of surplus property and the completion of other inventory related forms. In addition, this position is responsible for room set-ups for meetings and conferences, ordering of supplies/inventory and assisting with general services functions.

Job Duties Include: 
  • Serve as the Inventory Unit's lead accountable officer, conducting statewide inspections of all essential and non-essential inventory owned by the division. 
  • Serves to coordinate the inspections of the 29 field offices through their accountable officers, and maintains a written record for inventory spot inspections as required through the Department of General Services. 
  • Responsible for coordinating and organizing the pick-up, relocation and disposal of surplus property throughout the State of Maryland.
  • Supports the manager in the disposal of surplus property, along with evaluating other inventory forms for accuracy. 
  • Responsible for the ordering of supplies for the staff at DORS headquarters and the Workforce and Technology Center (WTC), and takes inventory of supply items. 
  • Assists with or serves as a back-up for general services functions within the facility, such as mail, supplies, conference room set-up, and record/forms management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in general services functions, office administration activities or in the receiving, storing, issuance, purchase or requisition of equipment, materials, and parts and supplies.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as stated above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets and the ability to complete computerized forms.  
  • A valid State of Maryland motor vehicle license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
