LOCATION OF POSITION
Work Location: Baltimore City - Position requires statewide travel
Location of Position: 6776 Reisterstown Rd. Baltimore, MD 21215
The main purpose of the position is to complete risk assessments for inmates as assigned by the Maryland Parole Commission. The risk assessments are utilized in the decision making process by the governor. It is critical that the Maryland Parole Commission have risk related data available in making recommendations to the Chief Executive associated with parole status. The primary focus will be the completion of risk assessment for inmates with Life sentences. The employee will need to be familiar with risk assessment instruments and maintain currency with other risk assessments that are developed within the professional community.
Completing risk assessments
- Clinical interview of inmates
- Review of base files, Offender Case Management System (OCMS), Electronic Patient History Record (EPHR), the MD Judiciary Case Search records
- Administer assessment tools (PCLR, PAI-CS, WAIS-IV, HCR-20, Static 99r, STABLE-2007)
Attending Continuing Education programs for the purpose of maintaining familiarity of risk assessments and licensure in Maryland as a psychologist.
Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.
Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the Psychologist license.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license but the application will be designated in pending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to MDH to remove the pending status from the application.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
