Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to function as a supervisor in the Central Distribution Center of the Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Administrative Operations (DAO). This position supervises IT Production Control Specialists in the printing, processing and distribution of all output from the Client Information System (CIS) letters, notices, earnings withholding, driver’s license suspension etc.; Maryland State Dept. of Education/Child Care Automated Tracking System (MSDE/CCATS) Child Care Provider, invoice packages, redeterminations, provider vouchers; Maryland Children’s Electronic Social Service Information Exchange (MDCHESSIE) foster care parent invoices and vouchers and Baltimore City Foster care checks.

POSITION DUTIES

At all times, the incumbent will provide customer service to both internal and external customers that meet or exceed the standard set by the Department. Maintain communications with the OTHS Production Control Unit, the DHS Information Systems Unit (DHRIS), Xerox - Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), Family Investment Administration, Social Services Administration, Child Support Enforcement Administration, and Budget & Finance to insure efficient and seamless operations. Solve customer problems through interaction with various outside vendors such as Xerox, United Parcel Service, and the United States Postal Service. Provide for the maintenance of existing center equipment as well as plan for, recommend and initiate the procurement of new equipment. Assess the performance of IT Production Control Specialists and recommend disciplinary actions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience scheduling or setting up information technology jobs for production, controlling data input and output or maintaining a tape library for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information or performing clerical work involving reconciliation of data on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Computer Clerk and Assistant classifications or Computer Clerk and Assistant specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

One year of supervisory experience.

One year of customer service experience in an IT Production setting.

One year of experience managing an IT Production office.

One year of experience using equipment/software such as Integrity Software, High Speed Printers, Mail Sorters, Elixir Forms Design Software, UPS Shipping Equipment or similar.
