Introduction

This is an 11-month position.

Main Purpose of Job

Provide administrative support to the Assistant Principal of the Middle School Program.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage the office of the Middle School Program in the daily operations of the program. In addition to supporting the Middle School Assistant Principal, this includes serving students, families, teachers, and staff.  Duties include assistance in maintaining program safety and records, and monitoring and maintaining student and staff well-being including attendance, and progress reports.  Track student attendance. This position will also be involved with arranging school functions, preparing and proofreading the Assistant Principal’s communications, and coordinating the Assistant Principal’s schedule. This position will collaborate closely with the Campus Principal’s office, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, and with other programs in the school. May include communication with outside state and local agencies. May be asked to assume other duties as assigned by Assistant Principal for Middle School, the School Principal, or by the Dean of Student Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Strong English writing skills. High School diploma required.

Fluency in American Sign Language required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense. (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568)

Applicants certified to the list will receive eligibility for a period of one (1) year.
