Introduction

Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Public Television is looking for a competent Digital Fundraising Manager to support and optimize our organization's digital fundraising program. Duties for the Digital Fundraising Manager will include tracking campaign progress and MPT streaming metrics; developing digital fundraising materials for social media, web/ online; sourcing and creating images, artwork, charts, newsletters and reports; gathering and collating data and content; updating online assets; streamlining digital fundraising assets; and handling general digital fundraising activities. The incumbent’s creative thinking skills and strategies will be an essential part of driving MPT’s digital narrative which will enhance the brand, improve digital communication with viewers, and encourage membership growth through effective fundraising campaigns.


The candidate for this role should be creative and innovative, multimedia savvy, well-organized, and must be an excellent writer and communicator. Ultimately, the exceptional Digital Fundraising Manager should have a firm grasp of the different digital touchpoints, drive highly effective digital campaigns, enhance user experience, and deliver on digital objectives.

POSITION DUTIES

Supporting fundraising initiatives.

Assist with the production and distribution of weekly newsletter(s) and e-blast promotions.

Proficient understanding of digital platforms and effective delivery methods such as promoted social media posts, database segmentation, and email marketing, SMS and MMS campaigns, SEO, and keyword strategy.

Understand the importance of controlled and content-driven marketing with highly targeted (psycho, geo, and demo) audiences.

Assist and support fundraising events, product, and campaign launches.

Editing fundraising material.

Organizing sponsorship elements and deliverables such as social media promotions and email campaigns.

Researching and keeping abreast of market trends.

Developing and sourcing content for digital platforms.

Optimize SEO and audience traffic to MPT digital assets.

Professional experience in business, marketing, advertising, communications.

Knowledge of CMS/ CRM software tools.

Excellent copywriting and copy-editing skills.

Highly organized.

Strong computer literacy - Strong presentation skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working familiarity with PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro/ InDesign.

Working familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, or similar graphic design software.

Attend training and organizational meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Three (3) years of experience developing marketing, newsletters/ e-newsletters, and communication strategies for fundraising purposes.

Note: 

Candidates may substitute seven (7) years of experience for developing marketing and communication strategies for fundraising purposes for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).


Experience with non-profit fundraising.

Experience with audience-based fundraising strategies, such as online giving, email and social media campaigns. 

Project management experience – preferably in advertising and marketing campaign management.

Database management and segmentation.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
