POSITION DUTIES

This Registered Nurse MDH 36 position is a position that allows certain RN positions to be schedule for three 12 hour shifts per work week, while still receiving pay for a standard 40-hour workweek.  This position also offers full time benefits, such as a leave time, pension and health benefits.  More details will be provided at the time of interview.

The Registered Nurse works in collaboration and coordination with Physicians, healthcare team members and families to provide safe, effective, efficient, quality care to Western MD Hospital Center patients/residents. The Registered Nurse will utilize Nursing Professional Standards of Practice, Nursing Code of Ethics and WMHC Code of Conduct to ensure such care. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN is responsible for assessing patient/resident health problems and needs, developing and implementing care plans, evaluating progress toward attainment of goals/outcomes, education patient/resident/family on illness and condition, and providing emotional support to patients/residents/families. The RN is responsible for carrying out Physician and Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP-CRNP and PA) orders and treatments. The RN coordinates and delegates duties to other health care personnel with appropriate follow-up of outcomes.

Per the emergency regulation issued by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) (86 FR 61555), and as permitted to go into effect by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 13, 2022, all staff at the Maryland Department of Health’s CMS certified health care facilities are required to receive either a first or single COVID-19 dose and provide proof of their vaccination status by January 29, 2022.

If selected for this position, candidates will be required to provide proof of vaccination status or have an approved religious or medical exemption prior to appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.  A copy of your license or license number must accompany your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in the classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

3. Employees in this classification will be subject to certain attendance standards in order to be accepted into and remain in the classification and associated 36 hour workweek program.
