Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor, (MDOL), Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Program Manager IV. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of this position is to ensure Efficient Claims and Adjudication Center Operations in Cumberland Maryland; to manage the resources of a Department of Labor (MDOL) MD Unemployment Insurance Claim Center; and to provide the highest quality of Unemployment Insurance services to customers which will support the economic stability of the labor force, businesses and the community.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage the resources of a Department of Labor (Labor) Unemployment Insurance Claim Center to provide the highest quality of Unemployment Insurance services to customers which will support the economic stability of the labor force, businesses and the community. Organizes, assigns and manages the work in an unemployment insurance claim center operation to meet goals and standards established by the agency, according to client call flow, position allocation, staff availability and economic conditions. Conduct a variety of claim center administrative functions to ensure effective operations. Promotes the programs of Labor through contacts with interested groups and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applications that meet the minimum and selective qualifications will be referred to the hiring manager for interview selection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for interview.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration. 

Experience: Three years of management/supervisory experience in claims taking or adjudication in a call centers environment.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Current supervisory experience in a MDUI claim center

Strong understanding of MD BEACON system

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to Labor/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
