The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. This is a CONTRACTUAL position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

POSITION DUTIES
Position will be required to assess HIV/HCV testing materials for adequacy and efficacy and will monitor the MOU with MDH to assure that funds are spent appropriately and in a timely fashion for the specific purpose of increasing testing among DPSCS detainees and arrestees, ensuring enrollment and follow-up in chronic care clinic while incarcerated and linking them to care upon release.
Position will act as liaison between DPSCS and MDH on issues surrounding HIV and HCV, Training, policy and procedure, and data development and management.
Position will also develop and implement processes that assure HIV and HCV positive inmates being released receive their thirty days of medication, and may work with the medical vendor’s discharge planners and receiving facilities in the community to get medications to them in the event released inmates do not get them prior to release. Position will work with the medical vendor’s discharge planners and community providers to ensure continuity of care upon release.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Experience a plus but not required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. One year of professional experience managing infectious disease screening or testing in a facility or health care unit.
2. One year of professional experience planning post-release treatment plans for persons with medical conditions.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
