Main Purpose of Job

In coordination with the Clinical Coordinator the incumbent within this position will provide substance use/abuse assessments, and treatment recommendations to the client’s treatment team as well provide individual and group counseling to identified clients that is family driven and youth guided. To provide education to the client and family as indicated. Provide documentation of assessments and services provided. Facilitate community resources as needed. In addition the incumbent within this position will evaluate client’s progress against their individual treatment plan and make changes as need to insure continued progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the certification requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience as an Alcohol & Drug counselor with youth clients is preferred but not required for this position.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
