The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. This is a MANAGEMENT SERVICES position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

POSITION DUTIES

Asst. Director of Accounting Operations - Collections and Accounting

This position directs and coordinates all activities of the Collections and Accounting Unit, the group responsible for the collection and disbursement of approximately $24 million annually in court-ordered restitution, fines and costs as well as mandated testing and supervision fees. This position establishes overall policies and procedures for the Unit, and oversees the training and development of staff within the Unit, establishing and evaluating goals, standards and controls to meet the Unit’s objectives and develops short and long-term plans for the Unit’s operations and resources. This position also assist the Division of Financial Services with the budget, monitoring, and year end closing of the Division of Parole and Probation.

Asst. Director of Budget Management

This position serves as an assistant to the Director of Budget Management. The main purpose of this position is to assist the Director in supervising and monitoring the development, preparation, submission and implementation of the Department’s operating budget, and to assist management staff in exercising budgetary control of expenditures for the agencies within the Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles AND 1 year of supervisory experience.

1. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
